From your first bot to your own server. Here’s how it all fits together.
Dotobot is your own team of AI bots. Give them tasks, connect your tools, and keep the conversation going. Your bots run on your server, with a native app to work alongside them.
Yes. Dotobot requires a server or local machine that you own or control and that can run Docker. This can be a remote server or an always-on Raspberry Pi or Mac mini. The app connects to that machine, where your bots run. The harness is free and open source under Apache 2.0. You manage its security, updates and backups. Follow the documentation, or give the setup instructions to your AI agent.
Yes. Connect your own AI accounts or API keys with supported providers, including OpenAI, Anthropic and xAI. Available connection methods depend on the provider. AI usage and provider charges are separate from Dotobot.
Open Plugins in the app, choose a service and follow its connection steps. You choose which bots can use each connected account. Then name the service or account in your request so your bot knows which tools to use. See connecting your tools for a first task to try.
Yes. Accepted tasks run on your server, so you can close the app and return later. The server and Docker need to stay running and connected to the internet. A bot that needs your answer or approval waits for you.
Yes, with a supported voice provider configured. You can connect ElevenLabs, choose a voice and use it with your bot’s existing AI model. Review the audio-sharing information before starting a call. Voice provider charges are separate from your apps subscription. Follow the voice setup guide.
The apps subscription is USD 5 per month or USD 39 per year. One subscription covers Mac and, when available, iPhone. The self-hosted harness is free and open source. Hosting, AI usage and optional services are separate. See pricing for billing details and applicable taxes.
Dotobot is available for Mac, with the iPhone app coming soon. Your subscription will also cover the iPhone app when available. Get the Mac app to get started.
Yes. Open Your servers in the app to add or switch between your servers. Sign in with the same Dotobot account and sign-in method on each device to find your saved connections. Each server keeps its own bots and data.
Your harness stores your chats, files and bot memory. Selected AI providers and connected services receive the information needed for your tasks. Dotobot’s account service stores account details and saved server access keys, and processes features such as notifications and reports. Connection sync is encrypted, but is not end-to-end encrypted. Read the privacy policy for the full picture.
Choose which bots can access each plugin, tell them which account to use, and set clear boundaries in your request. Your server’s action-review settings determine when an action needs approval. Review the requested action before approving it. Learn about plugin access and approvals.
For a website subscription, open Account → Subscription to manage billing. If you subscribed through Apple, use your Apple ID subscription settings. You keep app access until the end of your paid period. Your self-hosted harness keeps running, and your bots, files and data stay on your server. You can continue using the free harness tools.
